Key Events in the Eco-City
On 18 November 2007, then-Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong signed a framework agreement to jointly build the Eco-city.

On 28 September 2008, then-Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and then-Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Eco-city.

On 28 April 2016, Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong attended the commencement ceremony for the rail transit line Z4 in the Binhai New Area.
On 1 July 2018, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong and Tianjin Binhai New Area Party Secretary, Zhang Yuzhuo officiated the launch of the Eco-city’s city centre to mark its next phase of development.
As part of the Eco-city’s 10th anniversary commemoration on 28 September 2018, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong and Vice Minister for PRC Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Huang Yan unveiled a 10-year milestone sculpture “
Towards Greater heights
” (放飞) which signifies that the Eco-city project has taken off under the care and nurture of the people of Singapore and China.
On 28 September 2018, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong delivered the opening address at the China-Singapore International Green Building Forum, which was held in the Eco-city.
As part of his visit to Tianjin Eco-city on 16 October 2019, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat visited the Eco-city Administrative Committee Service Centre, where he was briefed on the history of the Eco-city project
