To ask the Minister for National Development whether the Government has conducted any recent or ongoing studies to measure any quantifiable effects of a dense urban living environment on individuals’ physiological stress responses and, if so, to share the findings of these studies.
Answer:
The Urban Redevelopment Authority, the Housing and Development Board and the A*STAR Institute of Human Development and Potential have recently embarked on a three-year study on the impact of the urban environment on mental well-being, which will inform the way that we plan for a healthy living environment in Singapore. This study will build on current research such as the benefits of greenery on mental well-being. We will share the findings when ready.
