Question No: 7430

Question by: Mr Chua Kheng Wee Louis

To ask the Minister for National Development (a) what is the total demand for the current Single Room Shared Facilities (SRSF) pilot; (b) whether the Government has plans to launch further SRSF sites in the next five years; and (c) what is the target number of beds to be made available under the SRSF model in the next five years.

Answer:

The Single Room Shared Facilities (SRSF) pilot is designed to improve the experience of singles under the Public Rental Scheme by providing them with more privacy while reducing the risk of social isolation. It is part of HDB’s efforts to provide more public rental housing options for singles.

The SRSF model is being piloted at the former Anderson Junior College student hostel. Since the opening of applications to the SRSF in May 2024, HDB has received 1,100 applications, of which about half were assessed to be eligible and have been progressively moving in.

HDB is reviewing the SRSF pilot, including the study of other possible SRSF sites, and will share more details when the plans are ready. There is currently no target number of beds to provide under the SRSF model.
