Synopsis


De En's presentation will provide an overview of the research directions of the Urban Solutions and Sustainability Domain (USS), and how R&D will support the Singapore Green Plan (SGP). He will be highlighting the priority areas and desired outcomes for innovations in the built environment, water, transportation, energy, and waste management sectors. The session will provide an introduction for deeper dives into the other sessions in the programme for Congress 2023. Attendees can expect to gain insights into the latest research and development efforts in USS areas, and how these efforts are contributing to a more liveable and sustainable environment for Singapore.

National Research Foundation (NRF) 


Ni De En is the Director of the Urban Solutions and Sustainability (USS) directorate in the National Research Foundation (NRF), Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore. He is responsible for formulating R&D strategies in the USS domain to improve Singapore’s liveability, sustainability and resource resilience. Prior to his current role, De En served as the Director Manpower, NRF, overseeing the development of R&D talent across the Research, Innovation and Enterprise ecosystem, as well as Director of the Services and Digital Economy directorate overseeing Singapore’s investments in digital R&D. Prior to the NRF, De En has also served in several ministries and agencies across government, including at the Infocomm and Media Authority, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Trade and Industry.
