Love Our ’Hood Fund

The Love Our ’Hood Fund supports ground-up initiatives or projects that address municipal issues and/or foster a sense of community within the neighbourhood to manage neighbourly issues amicably. It is a collaboration between the Municipal Services Office (MSO) and the Our Singapore Fund to fund ground-up projects that addresses municipal issues. Apply via the OurSG Grants Portal here.

Funding Quantum

You may receive up to 80% of supported project expenditure on a reimbursement basis, capped at $20,000 per project. Specific funding levels would vary based on the merits of each project.

Eligibility Quantum

For Individuals
  • You must be a Singapore Citizen/Permanent Resident, who is 18 years old and above.
  • You must be residing in Singapore.

For Organisations
  • A company that is registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA); or
  • A not-for-profit organisation that is a Public Company Limited by guarantee registered with:
  • (a) Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA);

Assessment Criteria

All applications will be assessed against the following assessment criteria:

(a) Proposals that meet all the criteria in Category A, B and C can qualify for funding of up to 80% of qualifying expenditure, capped at $20,000.

(b) Proposal that meet at least one criterion in Category A, one criterion in Category B, and all criteria in Category C can qualify for funding of up to 50% of qualifying expenditure, capped at $20,000.

Types of Projects

Projects must address municipal issues. Municipal issues include issues pertaining to the upkeep and improvement of common areas in our living spaces such as public cleanliness (littering), animals (pigeon feeding, stray cat feeding, pet dog ownership), neighbourliness (noise, smoking in homes, dripping laundry), use of common areas (cluttered corridors, congregation noise) and illegal parking.

FAQ



1. When can I apply for the Love Our ’Hood Fund?

The application period is open throughout the year. Applications should be submitted at least 8 weeks before the project start date via the OurSG Grants Portal.

2. What expenses can be supported under the Love Our ’Hood Fund?

The Love Our ’Hood Fund can support the following expenditures:
  • Venue costs
  • Marketing and publicity costs
  • Production, material, and logistics costs
  • Licensing and legal fees
  • Professional service fees
  • Insurance costs (where applicable)
  • Volunteer meal and transport costs
  • Expenditure should be relevant to the project.

Expenditure should be relevant to the project.

The Love Our 'Hood Fund generally does not support expenditure beyond the above categories. In particular, it does not support:
  • Expenditure committed or made before the effective date of the Agreement
  • Start-up costs or capital expenditure (including but not limited to registration or licensing fees, property rental, and any expenditure on office equipment, computer infrastructure and vehicles
  • Cash prizes and vouchers
  • Honorariums
  • Local and overseas accommodation costs
  • Overseas travel costs (including any relevant costs for travelling to and/or from Singapore)
  • Costs funded by any other sources
  • Financial benefit of whatever nature that accrues to the Recipient
  • Notional costs, including but not limited to opportunity costs, depreciation and potential income loss
  • Costs associated with the employment of staff under a contract of service
  • Such other costs or expenses as the Agency may determine from time to time, by notice in writing to the Recipient

3. What kind of projects can the Love Our ’Hood Fund support?

Supported projects would have been assessed to meet the Love Our 'Hood Fund criteria.

4. How will I know if my application is successful?

You can check your application status via the OurSG Grants Portal under the tab Dashboard after you signed in. An email notification will also be sent to you when the application result is finalised. If you are successful, you will receive a Letter of Award via the OurSG Grants Portal.

5. When can I start my project?

You can start your project once you accepted the Letter of Award issued to you via the OurSG Grants Portal.

6. If my project is approved, how can I receive the funds from Love Our ’Hood Fund?

For Individuals
You will have to submit the direct credit authorisation (DCA) form for us to process payment via bank transfer into the bank account to be advised by you.

For Organisations
You will have to submit e-invoices via Vendors@Gov to MSO to claim the funds from us.

You may claim the Love Our ’Hood funds in two tranches, i.e 40% of approved funding upon acceptance of the Letter of Award and the remaining 60% of approved funding or approved percentage quantum of actual qualifying expenditure incurred less initial advance after the project is completed.

Your claim for the final reimbursement should be submitted within 3 months from the project completion date. Please note that it can take up to 1 month to disburse the first tranche, and up to 3 months to disburse the second tranche upon verification of submitted documents. Unused funds must be returned to MSO within 1 month upon completion of the project.

7. What are the documents that I need to submit to receive my final reimbursement?

You will need to submit the soft copy of the following documents via the OurSG Grants Portal:
  • Project completion report
  • Claims forms
  • Supporting receipts
  • Any other supporting document including event photographs

Upon verification of the documents, we will inform you of the approved reimbursement amount. We will disburse the amount via bank transfer for individual applicants. Organisations will need to submit an e-invoice via Vendors@Gov to MSO.

8. When do I need to complete the project?

Your project must be completed within 12 months from the date of your acceptance of the Letter of Award. Extension of project timeline is assessed on a case by case basis. Please inform MSO if you need to seek an extension.

9. Can I generate profit for my project?

The Love Our ’Hood Fund allows projects to receive funding from other sources, but the project should not be profit generating i.e. total funding received from all sources must not exceed 100% of total project cost. The Form of Agreement requires that the funding recipient notify MSO of the amount and the terms and conditions of such other funding, with the supporting documents. We reserve the right to reduce the Approved Amount by the amount the Recipient receives.

10. Can my project receive other sources of funding in addition to the Love Our ’Hood Fund?

The Love Our ’Hood Fund does not prohibit supported projects from seeking other sources of funding. However, applicants must submit a declaration on the other fund and/or grant(s) applied for or received in the application form. Applicants may apply additional funding from other agencies or organisations, which include the following:
  • Housing & Development Board - The Lively Places Fund supports projects that help to develop place identity
  • National Youth Council - The Young ChangeMakers Grant provides seed funding for youths to implement projects in the community
  • Singapore Kindness Movement - The Seed Kindness Fund supports kindness community projects by youths

For transparency and property accountability, projects involving online fundraising elements must adhere to the Code of Practice for Charitable Online Fund-Raising Appeals.

11. Can I apply for the Love Our ’Hood Fund more than once?

You may only submit one project proposal at a time, as resources and the ability to undertake multiple projects are important considerations to ensure the successful completion of the project. If you wish to apply for a new project to be supported by Love Our ’Hood Fund, you should complete the approved project successfully before submitting the application for a new project.

12. Does the Love Our ’Hood Fund provide sponsorship?

The Love Our ’Hood Fund is not a sponsorship, but it is a grant based on a co-funding basis.
