NEW APPOINTMENTS IN URBAN REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (URA) BOARD

Mr Bobby Chin Yoke Choong will step down as Chairman of the URA Board when his present term expires on 31 March 2006. Five other board members will also be stepping down. They are:

- Mr Wong Mun Summ, Director, WOHA Architects Pte Ltd and WOHA Designs Pte Ltd;

- Mr Lim Jim Koon, Chief Editor, Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore Press Holdings;

- Mrs Chin Ean Wah, Chief Executive Officer, Wiser Asset Management Pte Ltd;

- Mr Lim Neo Chian, Dy Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Tourism Board; and

- RADM Sim Gim Guan, Chief of Staff – Naval Staff / Head Naval Operations.

2 The Ministry of National Development and the URA express their sincere appreciation to the outgoing Members and Chairman, Mr Bobby Chin, for their contribution to the URA Board.

New URA Chairman

3 Mr Alan Chan, current URA Board Member and CEO of Singapore Press Holdings, will succeed Mr Bobby Chin as the new Chairman of the URA Board with effect from 1 April 2006.

Existing Members re-appointed

4 Four existing members have been re-appointed for another 3-year term with effect from 1 April 2006. They are:

- Mr Inderjit Singh, CEO, Infiniti Solutions Pte Ltd and MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC;

- Professor Heng Chye Kiang, Head, Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore;

- Dr Teh Kok Peng, President GIC Special Investments Pte Ltd;

- Mrs Cheong Koon Hean, Chief Executive Officer, URA.

New Board Members

5 Six new members have also been appointed to the URA Board for a 3-year term with effect from 1 April 2006. These new members come from diverse backgrounds, such as architecture and advertising. URA will benefit from their expertise and experience. They are:

- Mr Tham Khai Meng, Co-Chairman, Ogilvy & Mather Asia-Pacific;

- Mr Ong Chong Tee, Deputy Managing Director, Monetary Policy, Investment & Research Development and External Relations, Monetary Authority of Singapore;

- Mr Chan Sui Him, Chairman, DP Architects and President, Board of Architects;

- Mr Mok Wei Wei, Managing Director, W Architects Pte;

- Mr Chong Lit Cheong, Chief Executive Officer, Jurong Town Corporation;

- BG Bernard Tan Kok Kiang, Director, Joint Intelligence, Singapore Armed Forces.

BRIEF WRITE-UPS ON MR BOBBY CHIN AND MR ALAN CHAN

MR BOBBY CHIN

Mr Bobby Chin joined the URA Board as Member on 1 April 1997 and was appointed Chairman on 1 April 2001.

Under his chairmanship, URA has introduced a number of strategic planning and development initiatives. These include creating a vision and establishing plans for Marina Bay as a Garden City by the Bay, and introducing the Architectural and Urban Design Excellence Programme to lift the level of industry awareness and professional standards.

MR ALAN CHAN HENG LOON

Mr Alan Chan joined the URA Board as a member on 1 Dec 2005.

Mr Chan was appointed a director and Group President of the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) on 1 July 2002 and became its Chief Executive Officer on 1 January 2003. He has more than 24 years’ experience in the Civil Service, spanning the Civil Aviation Department, Ministries of Home Affairs, Defence, Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office. Prior to joining SPH, he was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport. He was also a Director of DBS Group Holdings Ltd, PSA Corporation Ltd and StarHub Pte Ltd.
Mr Chan is a President Scholar and has been awarded the Public Service Medals (Gold and Silver). He graduated from the Ecole Nationale de I’Aviation Civile, France, and holds an MBA (with distinction) from INSEAD, France.
