The construction industry’s efforts towards lifting productivity levels received a $250 million shot in the arm at the annual BCA Awards earlier this year, where details of the new fund were announced.

A record 159 awards was given out at this year’s BCA Awards, organised under the theme of “Transforming the Industry”. Mr Quek See Tiat, Chairman of BCA, noted that a common thread among award winners was the incorporation of productive construction methods and delivery in the projects, such as the use of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, steel construction and prefab bathrooms.

“This highlights the fact that productivity is an integral component in the entire design and construction process,” he said.

Attended by more than 1000 industry standouts, this year’s BCA Awards recognised firms and projects for their achievements in design and engineering safety excellence, construction excellence, Universal Design, Green Mark, as well as green and gracious practices and built environment leadership.

The BCA-NParks Green Mark for New Parks, a new Green Mark award category created to promote sustainable parks design and identify best practices in parks design, construction management and upstream maintenance planning, was also handed out for the first time to two award recipients.
