Tang Tat Kwong (Chairman, JTCi Consultants (India))
Mr Rao Munukutla (CEO, JTCi Consultants (India))
Mr Vikas Oberoi (Managing Director, Kingston Properties)
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen
Introduction
1. Thank you for inviting me to this joyous occasion,
which brings together Singapore and Indian expertise
in creating a new commercial development for the city
of Mumbai.
Infrastructure
Opportunities in Mumbai
2. Mumbai's unrivalled reputation as the Indian commercial
and financial hub presents natural opportunities for
infrastructure-related firms as new developments are
often sprouting up in this ever-changing city.
3.
Indeed, the development of Bandra, the new commercial
district just outside Mumbai city is also a testament
of the Maharashtra state government's foresight in catering
for the expansion of this strategic hub in India.
Jurong
Consultants' first foray into Mumbai
4. I am told that even though Jurong Consultants have
established a presence in India since 1997, and have
garnered extensive experience in 10 cities in India,
this project is their first foray into Mumbai.
5.
More significantly, this project reflects Jurong Consultants'
continued commitment to serve the overall India market.
Indeed, ever since their first venture in 1997 in Gurgaon,
it is heartening to see the steady progress of their
business in India, from providing master planning services
of industrial parks to offering a comprehensive suite
of consultancy services to their clients.
Adaptability
of Singapore Firms Overseas
6. Jurong Consultants, or JTCi Consultants (India) as
it is known here, has demonstrated clearly that when
venturing overseas, firms need to be adaptable. In this
contract secured with Oberoi Construction, Jurong Consultants
have displayed their versatility in providing technical
consultancy expertise that extends beyond their traditional
role as a consultant for industrial/IT parks. They have
taken on the provision of the entire value chain of
services that will ensure they remain competitive and
relevant in the industry.
7.
Jurong Consultant's success in India to date also serves
to highlight the value of the Singapore brand name.
Jurong Consultants have built up an enviable track record
with experience in more than 22 large-scale industrial-based
projects in 8 countries. In fact, in China, they have
secured turnkey contracts which firmly establish their
reputation for being able to offer one-stop services
to their clients.
8.
With India undergoing a tremendous amount of economic,
social and physical development, it is natural for Singapore-based
infrastructure-related firms to also consider offering
similar turnkey services to Indian clients. This will
enable firms to have more opportunities in playing a
crucial role to develop, design, construct and maintain
infrastructure and building facilities.
Conclusion
9. I would like to congratulate both Jurong Consultants
and Oberoi Construction in their venture together, and
I wish both of you every success in this partnership
and all future undertakings.
10.
Thank you.
