MR MAH BOW TAN, MINISTER FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, TO VISIT NORTH-EAST ASIA - 31 MAY TO 7 JUNE 2006

Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development, will visit four North-East Asian cities from 31 May to 7 June 2006. He will be visiting Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tokyo and Seoul to study firsthand some of the new and upcoming developments in these cities.

2 In Shanghai, Mr Mah will meet the officials of the Shanghai Urban Planning Administration Bureau for a briefing as well as visit some key developments in the city. In Hangzhou, he will visit the Hangzhou Waterfront Development. While in Tokyo, Minister Mah will pay a courtesy call on the Japanese Minister for Land, Infrastructure &Transport, Mr Kazuo Kitagawa. In addition, he will attend a briefing by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and visit the Ropponggi Hills development, the entertainment and leisure district of Odaiba and the shopping districts of Omotesando & Aoyama Dori. In his final stopover in Seoul, Minister Mah will be briefed by the Seoul Development Institute on the Cheonggyechon Restoration Project, a major regeneration project for Central Seoul.

3 Mr Mah will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of National Development (MND) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) during the trip.
