5 Oct 2009 2009 URA Architectural Heritage Awards

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) announced eight winners for this year’s Architectural Heritage Awards (AHA). The annual Architectural Heritage Awards recognise owners, professionals and contractors who have gone the extra mile to sensitively restore their heritage buildings to their former glory for today’s use.  The Awards promote quality restoration of monuments and buildings with preservation and conservation status in Singapore.

26 Oct to 1 Nov 2009 Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW)

The first SGBW features an exciting line up of events and meetings centred around the inaugural International Green Building Conference organized by BCA. SGBW is a demonstration of Singapore’s leadership and commitment in championing sustainable development.

Participants in the various events during the week can look forward to learning more about Singapore’s technical expertise, capabilities and R&D in energy efficiency, green building technologies and green building designs.   The week’s events will be held islandwide across Singapore.

26 Oct 2009 The trail-blazing Zero-Energy Building (ZEB)

Singapore brings Sustainable Development to the next frontier with the new Zero-Energy Building (ZEB), which will be unveiled by Minister Mah Bow Tan on 26 October. Able to generate as much electricity as it consumes through renewable energy, the ZEB at the BCA Academy will house green classrooms and offices, and will also function as a test-bedding centre for Green Building Technologies.

28 & 29 Oct 2009 International Green Building Conference (IGBC)

In line with the Singapore government’s recent announcement to create a better, greener living environment, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is organising the inaugural International Green Building Conference (IGBC) 2009 on 26 – 30 October at Suntec Singapore. Participants of IGBC will have the opportunity to visit outstanding green buildings including the Zero Energy Building, as part of the BCA Green Mark Tours.

2 to 5 Nov 2009 PS21 ExCEL Convention

The PS21 ExCEL Convention is an annual event that marks and celebrates public agencies’ achievements and progress in improvement, learning, creativity and innovation. This year, MND and all its statutory boards will jointly organise this public service-wide event. An exciting programme has been lined up for all public officers, ranging from a series of talks, workshops, photo competition, exhibitions and learning journeys.

Towards A Cleaner and Greener Singapore, by BCA
Themed “Build Green. The Future is Now.” and held alongside BEX Asia, IGBC 2009 will focus on green issues concerning the industry, with an emphasis on green building technologies and green building designs. IGBC 2009 is the anchor event of the Singapore Green Building Week, which takes place from 26 - 30 October 2009.

HDB has scored a hat-trick of prestigious engineering awards, this time for an innovative precast crypt design that will help conserve burial space and the environment.
